Sunny Corner Cottage Policies

Childcare Policies

Welcome to Family Childcare where infants to school age children can experience the variety of abilities and challenges that each age goes through. Every child is unique and special and I’m happy to provide childcare for your child during these short, carefree years. With these policies I hope that we will be able to work together very well as joint caregivers for your child.

I will provide a supervised, loving atmosphere with child initiated activities. Children are free to use their imagination and creativity with spontaneous play the treasure of the day. Each child will feel loved, valued and wanted and I will nurture their self esteem and security.

Hours of Operation and Timekeeping

Childcare will be provided Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. I will not accept children before 7:30 or after 5:30 unless prior arrangements have been made.

Parents must sign in and out on the sign-in sheet when leaving and picking up your child. If a child is dropped off later than normal, pick up time still remains the same.

Contractual Requirements

We will have written agreements, or contracts. I will charge according to our contract hours, with additional fees for early delivery and for late pick up. I appreciate that your child will be dropped off and picked up on time.

Childcare fees are due each Friday or the last day of the week that your child is in attendance. I may immediately terminate the contract without any notice if payment isn't paid when due.

Please inform me if your child is going to be absent or late during his/her regularly scheduled care time. Please notify me by 9:00 a.m. if your child will not be coming for childcare.

Absence of more than three consecutive days without notice will be considered termination.

Child care fees must be paid, even for parents’ sick days, holidays, and any no show days. I do not substitute additional days for days missed.

Children's Illness

I will not care for a sick child. Your compliance is appreciated, and you will be compensated with the assurance that all ill children will be kept at home.

My definition of a sick child includes one with a fever within the last 24 hours, diarrhea – two or more loose bowel movements within the last 24 hours and/or vomiting within the last 24 hours. Please be fair to your child and do not leave your child here if he/she is sick or becoming sick. Your child needs you. A dose of acetaminophen or ibuprofen before he/she arrives at childcare isn’t fair to your child or the other children.

If your child is known to have a communicable disease or a contagious skin condition (including but not limited to impetigo, cold sores/fever blisters, conjunctivitis/pink eye, head lice, etc.), please stay home together. It is important that we work together to keep our children healthy. One child’s cold may be another child’s bronchitis. Children with a mild cold may attend childcare, but it is next to impossible to keep it from spreading to others if a little one’s nose is constantly running, or he/she has a continuous cough. Please consider treating the symptoms, and let me know if you have administered any medication prior to arriving.

Medical Prescriptions

If your child is on medication and it needs to be administered while he/she is in childcare, the medicine must be in the original container and labeled with your child’s name, doctor’s name, dosage, and when to be taken. I will administer as needed only if I am given a signed, written notice that includes the date, dosage and exact time to administer. A form is available. All medication must be handed to me. Do not leave medication in your child’s bag or cubby.

Best Interest Days

Each year your child will receive ten Best Interest Days. On BID's I will not charge the childcare fee when your child is not in attendance. If a child’s Best Interest Days are used as a week’s vacation I need a 30 day, written notice of the dates the vacation will be taken. Please write Best Interest Day on the sign in sheet on the date(s) you choose. Best Interest Days are not valid for a two week notice.
